A comet is usually just a freezing 'dirty snowball.' When it gets close to the hot Sun, its ice and dust are heated up, evaporating into two long tails: one is a shiny gas tail that always proudly points directly away from the Sun; the other is a curved dust tail trailing along its orbit like a light veil. These beautiful tails can stretch for millions of kilometers! The famous Halley's Comet only returns to Earth about once every 76 years. Many people only get to see it once or twice in their lifetime, so seeing it is truly lucky!
