It is a freezing 'ice giant' whose belly contains a large amount of mysterious gases like methane. These gases are very picky—they absorb the red light from sunlight but strongly reflect the blue light, which is why Neptune looks so blue. Neptune is not a quiet place at all; its wind speeds are amazingly fast, kicking up huge storms that are many times wilder than the super typhoons on Earth! Because it's so far away, only the incredible 'Voyager 2' space probe has ever flown close to visit it once in human history.
